줄 알았다/ 줄 몰랐다 Lesson | I thought that.., I didn’t know that..

안녕하세요 여러분! KoreanStudyJunkie입니다~ In this lesson, you'll learn how to say "I didn't know that.." and "I thought that.." in Korean. While this grammar is relatively simple to use, the most "complicated" part is the seemingly many different conjugation forms.

The ending - 알았다 / 몰랐다 is always in the past tense form -았, SO that will never change. But the TENSE is changed by the letters in front of it. By paying attention to these 는, 은, 을, ㄹ changes, you'll know how the sentence should be read or said.

VERBS

Present Tense (현재): -는 (줄 알았다/몰랐다)

Past Tense (과거):

Consonant-ending -은 (줄 알았다/몰랐다)

Vowel-ending -ㄴ (줄 알았다/몰랐다)

Future Tense (미래):

Consonant-ending -을 (줄 알았다/몰랐다)

Vowel-ending -ㄹ (줄 알았다/몰랐다)

This same form can also be used for guesses and supposition (추측)
