안녕하세요 리더님! I have a ton of short stories for beginner and intermediates here on Koreanstudyjunkie.com/blog, but I thought I’d make a post that is about the SAME story told differently to represent each level - Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced.

Beginner (A1–A2)

민수의 새로운 취미

민수는 회사원입니다. 민수는 매일 회사에 갑니다. 회사 일이 많아서 조금 피곤합니다.

어느 날, 민수는 새로운 취미를 찾고 싶었습니다. 그래서 집 근처 공원에 갔습니다. 공원에서 많은 사람들이 그림을 그리고 있었습니다.

민수도 그림을 그리고 싶었습니다. 다음 주에 그는 작은 스케치북을 샀습니다. 그리고 매주 토요일에 공원에서 그림을 그렸습니다.

처음에는 그림을 잘 못 그렸습니다. 하지만 계속 연습했습니다. 시간이 지나면서 그림 실력이 좋아졌습니다.

이제 민수는 그림을 그릴 때 행복합니다. 새로운 친구들도 만났습니다. 민수는 새로운 취미를 찾게 되어 기쁩니다.

ENGLISH TRANSLATION:

Minsu's new hobby

Minsu is an office worker. Minsu goes to the company every day. I'm a little tired because I have a lot of work at the company.

One day, Minsu wanted to find a new hobby. So he went to a park near his house. Many people were painting at the park.

Minsu wanted to draw, too. Next week, he bought a small sketchbook. And he drew pictures at the park every Saturday.

At first, I was not good at drawing. But I kept practicing. As time passed, my drawing skills improved.

Now Minsu is happy when he paints. He met new friends, too. Minsu is happy to find a new hobby.

Intermediate (B1–B2)

민수는 바쁜 회사원입니다. 매일 야근을 하는 경우가 많아서 스트레스를 자주 받았습니다. 집에 돌아오면 쉬기만 했기 때문에 특별한 즐거움이 없었습니다.

어느 날 주말에 산책을 하러 공원에 갔는데, 사람들이 나무와 꽃을 보면서 그림을 그리고 있는 모습을 보게 되었습니다. 그 모습을 보니 민수도 한번 그림을 배워 보고 싶다는 생각이 들었습니다.

그 후 민수는 스케치북과 연필을 사서 주말마다 공원에 나가기 시작했습니다. 처음에는 원하는 대로 그림이 나오지 않아서 실망하기도 했습니다. 그러나 포기하지 않고 꾸준히 연습한 덕분에 조금씩 실력이 늘었습니다.

몇 달이 지나자 사람들의 얼굴이나 풍경도 그릴 수 있게 되었습니다. 또한 공원에서 같은 취미를 가진 사람들을 만나면서 친한 친구들도 사귀게 되었습니다.

민수는 그림을 시작한 이후로 스트레스가 많이 줄었습니다. 그는 취미가 단순한 여가 활동이 아니라 삶을 더 즐겁게 만들어 준다는 사실을 깨달았습니다.

Minsu is a busy office worker. He often got stressed out because he often worked overtime every day. There was no special joy because he just rested when he got home.

One weekend, I went to the park to take a walk, and I saw people drawing while looking at trees and flowers. Seeing that made me think that Minsu also wanted to learn how to paint.

After that, Minsu bought a sketchbook and pencils, and started going to the park every weekend. At first, he was disappointed that the painting did not come out the way he wanted. However, he gradually improved because he did not give up and practiced consistently.

Months later, I was able to draw people's faces and landscapes. I also made close friends by meeting people at the park who had the same hobbies.

Minsu has lost a lot of stress since he started painting. He realized that hobbies are not just leisure activities, but make life more enjoyable.

민수는 업무량이 많은 회사에서 근무하고 있었다. 프로젝트가 이어질 때마다 늦게 퇴근하는 일이 반복되었고, 그 결과 일상은 점점 단조로워지고 있었다. 스트레스를 해소할 방법을 찾지 못한 채 시간을 보내던 그는 어느 주말, 기분 전환이라도 할 겸 집 근처 공원을 찾게 되었다.

공원을 걷던 중 민수는 여러 사람들이 풍경을 스케치하는 모습을 우연히 보게 되었다. 단순히 그림을 그리는 것처럼 보였지만, 그들의 표정에는 집중과 여유가 함께 담겨 있었다. 그 모습을 바라보는 순간, 자신도 무언가에 몰입할 수 있는 취미가 필요하다는 생각이 들었다.

Minsu was working for a company with a lot of workload. Leaving work late was repeated every time the project continued, and as a result, everyday life was getting monotonous. Spending time without finding a way to relieve his stress, he came to the park near his house one weekend to refresh himself.

While walking in the park, Min-su came across several people sketching the scenery. It seemed like they were simply drawing, but their facial expressions contained concentration and relaxation. As soon as I saw that, I thought that I needed a hobby to immerse myself in something.

After that, Minsu purchased sketchbooks and pencils with a light heart, and arranged time to draw pictures every weekend. At first, I felt frustrated that the desired results were not produced, but I tried to enjoy the process rather than expecting my skills to improve soon.

As I continued to paint, my observation naturally improved, and the beauty of the landscape, which was previously inadvertently passed, began to come into my eyes. In addition, I was able to form new human relationships by interacting with people with the same hobbies.

Looking back, the bigger change than painting skills itself was the attitude toward life. He realized that hobbies were not just a means of spending time, but an important factor in looking back on yourself and adding balance to your daily life.
