A/V-아/어도 = Even though, Even if, Regardless

Today we’re gonna look at another intermediate grammar - 아/어도.

This lesson includes some practice. I will add the answers in a random order here, try not to read through before attempting the practice for yourself. ;)

ANSWERS SECTION:

저는 안 예약해도, 호텔에 방이 있을까요? / 방이 있다고 생각해요?

한국이 아름다워도 프랑스를 더 좋아해요.

길을 몰라도 네이버 맵을 보면 찾아갈 수 있어요

한국어 잘 못해도 지하철를 아직 탈 수 있어요.

한국에 가도 외국인이라면 일부 장소에서 할인 혜택을 받을 수 있어요.

한국이 아름다워도 프랑스를 더 좋아해요.

아/어도 - Even if, Even though, Regardless of

Usage: To acknowledge that no matter if something or someone were to be done or be in a certain state, another action or state persists.

First sentence: Acknowledgement - no matter if..

Second sentence: The action that is still done / the state that still exists

Conjugation:

먹다 > 먹어요 > 먹어도

Even if i eat

공부하다 > 공부해요 > 공부해도

Even if i study

아프다 > 아파요 > 아파도

Even if i‘m sick

Example Sentences:

오늘 많이 아파도 학교에 갈 거예요.

Even though i‘m very sick today, I will go to school

요즘 일이 많아도 행복해요.

Even though i have a lot of work these days, I am happy.

저는 아무리 먹어도 배고파요

Even if i eat a lot, i’m hungry

아무리 - no matter how

요즘 몸이 안 좋은데 병원에 가도 낫지 않네요.

Recently, I have not been feeling well, but even if I go to the hospital, it does not get better

낫다 - recover, get better

저는 아무리 시간이 없어도 밤에 꼭 한국 드라마를 보고 잡니다.

Even if I don’t have time, I watch Korean dramas in the evening before going to bed.

달콤한 치킨을 안 좋아해도 이것을 한번 먹어 봐야 돼요

Regardless of if you don’t like sweet chicken, you have to try this

아무리 바빠도 아침을 꼭 먹어요.

No matter how busy I am, I always have a breakfast.
